Moonlight

This photograph is nothing special.  In fact, you can make several arguments for why it should not be posted, even in a blog.

However, change the circumstances:  take the same group of trees, add about 15 hours, a full moon, and the Acros film simulation, and you have the elements for quite a pleasing image.  There is a saying the goes “luck favours the prepared”.  Well, it was pure luck that I awoke at 3 a.m. and saw this moon shadow-knowing what to do with it is certainly more than luck.  Somewhere Cat Stevens is singing…

I have wanted a photograph like the second one above for quite a long time.  Now, I have it.

As an important aside, there is another photographic aphorism, which goes “when in doubt, make the photograph”.  While I do not always agree with that point, it has particular relevance to the first photograph here and will be explained in the next post.

Take care.
